Massaranduba is a dark red-brown wood with barely noticeable grey streaks that grows darker over time.
Massaranduba is a hardwood originating in South America. It is one of the most beautiful and heaviest species of wood in the world. Bending strength tests have shown that it is very strong, in most cases even stronger than Ipe. A Massaranduba terrace will brighten up your house with its rich velvet-red glow.
Massaranduba is suitable as a more cost-effective substitute for Ipe. It is naturally durable and resistant to rot and decay, making it an excellent choice for wood terrace decking. Massaranduba is a very popular natural alternative to PVC and similar materials.
The wood resembles mahogany in colour. Massaranduba grows in Central and South America, reaching a height of up to 55 m and a diameter of up to 190 cm and has a life span of at least 30 years. It is of slightly higher quality and has a slightly longer life span than Bangkirai wood. The wood has a density of 1,100 to 1,350 kg/m3.
Massaranduba is increasingly used for heavily used outdoor structures such as wooden bridges, embankments, piers, pool decks, etc. It is also great for outdoor decking in gardens as well as for terraces, balconies and fences.
