American cherry American cherry is native to eastern North America and grows up to 21 m tall.
American cherry has an even colour – the sapwood is a yellowish-white, while the heartwood is dark red and grows even darker over time. It has a straight grain and relatively little sapwood compared to European cherry. The wood typically contains natural gum deposits and brown pith flecks.
American cherry wood is easy to work. The wood has a high shrinkage rate but is very stable when dried.
Uses: furniture, doors, veneer, interior decking, etc.
